FAQs

What is the Mugwort Heat Patch and how is it different from the Belly Heat Patch?

A stick-on self-heating patch designed for whole-body use — neck, shoulders, lower back, knees, joints, anywhere you need targeted warmth. Concentrated mugwort essential oil + iron-oxide heat. Mugwort Heat Patch (SGD 80 / 32pcs) is the universal stick-on for any body part; the Herbal Belly Heat Patch (SGD 25 / SGD 130) has Velcro strap and is specifically for the belly/lower back area. Many customers keep both — the Mugwort Patch for joints and shoulders, the Belly Patch for tummy/back.

What is the best whole-body mugwort heat patch in Singapore?

The MoxaMoxa Mugwort Heat Patch by Aiyisheng is one of the most popular heat patches locally — concentrated mugwort essential oil, thermostat-controlled heat, skin-safe adhesive. 32 patches per bundle at SGD 80 — works out to roughly SGD 2.50 per patch. Sold and serviced locally by MoxaMoxa Singapore.

Who is the Mugwort Heat Patch best for?

  • Anyone with shoulder, neck, lower-back, or knee aches from desk work, age, or weather.
  • Office workers in aircon who feel chilled and stiff in the upper back and shoulders.
  • Athletes and fitness enthusiasts for muscle recovery after training.
  • Older adults with joint stiffness in cold weather.
  • Travellers wanting TCM warmth in a pocket-sized format.

What body parts can I use it on?

  • Shoulders and upper back — for tension and stiffness from desk work.
  • Lower back / waist — for chronic back ache (Ming Men area).
  • Knees — for joint stiffness and cold-pattern knee pain.
  • Neck — base of the neck or back of the neck.
  • Joints — elbows, wrists, ankles for stiffness.
  • Avoid the face, throat, kidneys area, chest over the heart, and direct application on the spine.

How long does each patch last and how often can I use one?

Each patch produces heat for several hours after activation. Use 1–2 patches per day as needed. Don't reuse a patch — once activated, the iron oxide loses potency. The 32-patch bundle gives you about a month of daily use at SGD 80.

How is this different from regular pain-relief patches (Salonpas, Tiger Balm patches)?

  • Heat-based, not cooling-based. Salonpas-style patches use menthol for a cooling/numbing effect. The Mugwort Heat Patch warms the meridians — fundamentally different TCM approach.
  • Active mugwort essential oil — the same herb used in traditional moxibustion.
  • Longer-lasting warmth — keeps working for hours.
  • Designed for TCM cold-pattern pain (worse with cold, better with heat) rather than acute injury cooling.

How is the authentic Aiyisheng patch different from cheaper alternatives on Taobao or Lazada?

  • Real mugwort essential oil in measurable concentration — many cheaper "moxa patches" use synthetic fragrance.
  • Thermostat-controlled, consistent heat — cheaper patches often heat unevenly or run too hot/too short.
  • Skin-friendly adhesive — many cheap patches cause skin irritation.
  • Local support — MoxaMoxa Singapore offers WhatsApp support at +65 8961 9905 and a physical showroom.

How do I store unused patches?

Keep patches in their individual sealed packaging until ready to use. Once opened, the iron-oxide layer begins reacting with air. Store in a cool, dry place. Shelf life is 1–2 years in sealed packaging.

Taboos

The Mugwort Heat Patch is gentle, but still uses real heat and herbal active ingredients. Please read these before use.

Important temperature awareness:

  • The patch is meant to feel warm, not hot. Heat builds gradually over 15–30 minutes after opening. Comfortable warmth is right; burning, stinging, or uncomfortably hot is wrong.
  • Due to individual body differences, some people may feel the patch is too hot. If this happens to you, peel back one edge of the patch slightly to let air in between patch and skin (reduces the felt heat), or place a thin cloth layer between patch and skin.
  • If it still feels too hot, remove the patch and contact us at WhatsApp +65 8961 9905 — we'll help you adjust use.
  • Children and elderly users must use under the guidance of an adult. An adult should check the patch temperature after the first 15 minutes and every 30 minutes thereafter.

Do NOT use the Mugwort Heat Patch if you are:

  • Pregnant — avoid all heat patches during pregnancy, particularly on abdomen, lower back, shoulders.
  • Running a fever or with acute infection at the application area.
  • Recovering from recent surgery at the application area — wait 6–8 weeks post-op.
  • Suffering from open wounds, severe eczema flare, psoriasis flare, or sunburn at the application area.
  • Allergic to mugwort or Asteraceae plants. Do a small skin patch test first.
  • Diabetic with severely reduced skin sensation at the application area — risk of unnoticed burns.
  • Fitted with a pacemaker or electronic implant near the application area.
  • Diagnosed with "heaty" TCM constitution (yin deficiency).

Use with caution if you are:

  • A child under 12 — direct adult supervision only.
  • Elderly with thin or fragile skin — family member supervision for first uses.
  • On blood-thinning medication — start with shorter wear (2–3 hours).
  • Sensitive to heat (hot flushes, perimenopause).

General heat-patch taboos:

  • Don't reuse a patch. Single-use only.
  • Avoid the face, throat, kidneys area, chest over the heart, and direct application on the spine.
  • Don't use under an AC vent. Wind invasion (受风) risk.
  • Don't drink ice-cold water or eat cold food while wearing.
  • Remove immediately if you feel itching, burning, sharp heat pain, dizziness, or unusual fatigue. Mild redness is normal; persistent redness or blistering is not.
